What: 43rd Indian Navy Day Celebration
India celebrated its 43rd Navy Day on Sunday, 04th Dec 2016.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his greetings to all Navy personnel and their families.
- Navy Chief Sunil Lanba, Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha and Chief of Army staff Dalbir Singh paid special honour at Amar Jawan Jyoti, New Delhi.
- President of India, Pranab Mukherjee also greeted the officers, soldiers and civilian person.
"Indian Navy is a strong, capable & professional force, which has effectively safeguarded our national maritime interest. Over the past few decades, Indian Navy has transformed itself into a multi-dimensional & technologically enabled force. Confident that in the years ahead, Indian Navy will continue to progress as a potent instrument of our national power." Pranab Mukherjee wrote on twitter.
- Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar also wrote on Twitter giving his good wishes to all.
About Indian Navy Day:
- December 4 is celebrated as Navy Day in India.
- Navy day is celebrated to commemorate India's victory in India-Pakistan war of 1971.
- Indian Navy played a significant role in Bombing of Karachi harbour.
- The name given to the attack was operation Trident which was launched on December 4.
