What: India and the European Organisation for the Nuclear Research (CERN) signed an agreement to make India an associate member state of the research organisation.
Where: Mumbai
- The agreement was signed by Shekhar Basu, Chairman of Atomic Energy Commission and Secretary, Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), and CERN Director General Fabiola Gianotti.

- CERN is the European Organisation for Nuclear Research.
- It operates the largest particle physics laboratory in the world.
